Google is projected to obtain a majority of all mobile ad revenue in 2013, according to Business Insider. This is Google’s second year in a row to surpass its competitors in the mobile ad space. It is expected that Google will acquire 53% of all mobile ad dollars. Its largest competitor, Facebook, will only attain 16%. Other smaller companies such as Twitter and Pandora will receive 3% or less.
Google’s triumph in the mobile ad space has been driven by the large adoption of its mobile operating system (OS). Android, Google’s OS, is open-source and used by many large vendors such as Samsung and HTC. This increased product adoption rate has helped Google increase advertising revenue.
